Since bursting onto the WWE scene last year, the perception of Daniel Bryan has been almost completely split down the middle. Some people think he should have been in the business much earlier as he is "very talented". Whilst others say he just does not belong in the wrestling industry. There is no doubting that the WWE creative and talent committees have been a little nervous about giving Bryan a push in the spotlight. For this reason it came as a big shock to many when Bryan won the Money In The Bank back in June, thus giving him an almost guaranteed run with a world title in the future. Since winning the briefcase Bryan went out of the spotlight leading to many people believing he would cash in the opportunity, but would never be the world champion. The most hardcore of WWE fans believed that his character just did not fit being the "best man" in the company, and having that slogan.
Daniel Bryan Cashes In At TLC And Becomes World Heavyweight Champion
The match at TLC between Mark Henry and Big Show was one of the most talked about matches on Twitter and WWE.com heading into the event. After finally winning the world title, the Big Show had the crowd in a rampant series of applause. However that applause got even louder when Daniel Bryan sprinted down to the ring and cashed in his Money In The Bank briefcase on a defenceless Big Show following Mark Henry's attack after the original match.
Daniel Bryan rolled Big Show onto his back and got the three count to become the new World Heavyweight Champion. Yes it happened before Wrestlemania; does that make Bryan a hypocrite? That is a debate for another day.
Where Will Daniel Bryan's Character Go From Here?
It's not an easy question to answer. Daniel Bryan could go to the top of wrestling feats with this reign or he could crash and burn. Take Alberto Del Rio's championship reign for instance. A lot of people wanted it to happen, but when it did his character did not do anything that amazed people, and it ended up being called one of the most boring and uneventful title reigns in WWE history.
Daniel Bryan's character is still not main event status yet, and it is difficult to see him main eventing Wrestlemania next April. He will hold the title at least past the Royal Rumble, but expect to see a new champion born at Elimination Chamber in February. This title reign will be popular but will not last in the long term, based on Bryan's current position within WWE.
