The most famous and well sought after action film series of all time finally goes to HD.

The Original Trilogy

Without a doubt the original trilogy of Star Wars changed an era in films. When A New Hope released in 1977, it was immediately chronicled as one of the most amazing pieces of film ever made. With its success, crowds gathered all over the globe for the release of The Empire Strikes Back a couple of years later. Not only was this film better, the world was shocked to learn that the evil Darth Vader was the father of the saga’s hero Luke Skywalker. Following this shock, the world came back to witness Return Of The Jedi in the 1980s, and witnessed the biggest battle ever seen on screen. The battle between Skywalker and Vader at the end of the film went down as one of the most famous sequences ever in movies. We end the original trilogy with order restored to the republic.

The Prequel Trilogy

Launched with The Phantom Menace in 1999, fans were over the moon to have Star Wars back on the big screen. In this movie we saw the beginning of Anakin Skywalker, who as we now knew would go on to become a Jedi and later on succumb to the dark side. In Attack Of The Clones we see a tale of forbidden love, with Anakin and Padme falling head over heels for each other. In the background the clone war is taking place, as the evil Sith begins to make its move on the already crumbling empire. In Revenge Of The Sith, we see the beginning of the end for young Anakin Skywalker. The film was chronicled for being one of the most emotional and well sought after movies of the 21st century.

Special Features In The Set

This special boxset is jammed packed with amazing special features taking you behind the scenes of the Star Wars saga. There are 3 discs packed with behind the scenes documentaries. Disc 1 & 2 features little featurettes and interviews from all six movies in the saga. Disc 3 features documentaries made about the Star Wars saga in the last 30 years since the original trilogy back in 1977, these give you a good idea on how painstakingly difficult it was to transform the story onto the big screen.

Summary

I can tell you right now, whoever buys this HD Boxset will not regret it. Over the years we have seen many releases of the Star Wars franchise but this boxset rules above all the rest in terms of its value. With not one, but three discs all packed with special features on top of the six discs containing the movies, this is a must buy even if you already own the series of DVD or VHS. This Star Wars Complete Saga on Blu-ray should be on everyone’s Christmas list this year.
